Cromlix House Hotel Dunblane

The Cromlix House Hotel is set within 2,000 secluded acres of fields and woodland, there are lochs and moor land all at guests' disposal. By car, the hotel is 1 hour from Edinburgh, 45 minutes from Glasgow, 30 minutes from Perth and 20 minutes from Stirling.

This Victorian mansion, complete with a little private chapel (which is today used for wedding ceremonies), was built in 1874 as a family residence. Although it has been transformed into a hotel, with 14 guestrooms, the owners have managed to retain the grandeur and warmth of what was originally the estate of a distinguished Scottish family. Guests will experience this unique atmosphere from the moment they step inside the imposing, carved sandstone doorway and into the wood-panelled porch to the restful reception hall, with its inviting armchairs and log fire. For the business traveller, the hotel can provide a number of rooms which will compliment the desired ambience, for board level brainstorming sessions, major presentations, product launches or team building, and equipment specifications can be arranged in advance. Further facilities include a restaurant and a car park.

There are double or twin bedrooms to choose from, which are individually decorated and furnished and all are gloriously comfortable. The rooms are equipped with everything to help guests relax, including luxurious toiletries, hairdryer and cosy Cromlix bathrobes in the bathrooms, tranquil dcor, direct dial telephone, radio and satellite TV. The suites are incredibly spacious and sumptuously comfortable. They are so large that they are often called apartments: each has its own bathroom and sitting room, and the furnishings include many antiques. Tea/coffee facilities are also provided in the rooms.

There are many pleasures (active and not-so-active) to help guests unwind. Golfing and trout fishing are great favourites, as are clay pigeon shooting and off-road driving, but more leisurely distractions can be found in the many historic locations within easy reach and there is world-class shopping in Glasgow and Edinburgh; each just an hours drive away.

Only fresh, seasonal, locally-sourced produce (where possible) is used to create some of the finest meals, all prepared on-site, including the hotels famously delicious shortbread. The wine list is comprehensive, offering an exceptional selection from Old World and New. There is also an outstanding choice of whiskies, including a broad selection of malts, from Highland, Lowland and Island distilleries. A distinct feature of the hotel is its offer of private dining, available for between one and 44 guests in one of the hotel's unique rooms.

Once on the M9 (heading north), pass by Stirling and at the large roundabout continue onto the A9 towards Perth. At the exit marked Kinbuck (B8033) leave the A9 and follow signs to Kinbuck. Continue through Kinbuck until seeing the sign for the hotel.
